How Girls Guide Came to Be

We know what you’re thinking....”Girls Guide is relatively new...how do you already have 2 full time employees?”

So let’s take a moment to spill the tea...

Deniz and I met on IG in 2014. We were both doing Tone It Up workouts and found each other through the #tiuvermont hashtag! (the power of social media y’all...don’t sleep on it!) We traveled to Cali together in 2016 to go the #TIURetreat and we both had a feeling on that trip that we wanted MORE, but we didn’t know what that was. In 2017, Deniz moved to San Francisco and I moved to NC. Then one morning in Jan of 2018, Deniz texted me and asked if she could call. She wanted to run something by me. We spent hours on that phone that day and decided to plunge head first into a MLM business together. We had big dreams of building an online community (like the one that brought us together) and thought this was the best way to do it.

We were actually pretty successful with that MLM. We climbed the ranks, built our team - we even earned the exclusive all expense paid trip. But something was MISSING. At the end of 2019 after my miscarriage, I felt like I was at a crossroads. My life had pretty much just shattered, and I needed to make sense of it. Something Deniz and I believe very strongly in is that everything doesn’t happen for a reason - but rather you can find meaning in everything. This was rock bottom for me, and I knew something had to change in my life. Meanwhile, Deniz found herself in a similar crossroads and we got on the phone again for hours. And the idea for Girls Guide was born.

Our mission was always to provide a community for women. A place where they could come together and feel empowered. A place where women cheered each other on and lifted each other up - celebrated each other's successes and validated each other during the hard times. Our business model has changed and grown with us, but the mission has never faltered. And it was once we decided to step out on our own, that we finally felt aligned and the pieces fell together.
It’s been a long time coming, but we’re just getting started. So stick around - it’s going to be a wild ride :)
